Food and Agriculture Organization

FAO is international organization that moves in food and agriculture sector. FAO is instituted date of 16th October 1945 and cohabits in Roma, Italian. Since it’s inception, FAO, which has 188 member states and the European community (EU), has fought world hunger and poverty by agricultural development, nutritional quality, and food security. Every nation in the world has got help by FAO, in food and agricultural sector. There are some aims of this organization, it’s like:
  1. Increasing quantity and quality of food production and the result of agriculture in the world.
  2. Giving help in technique sector to develop agricultural, ranch, watering, and fishery for developing country.
  3. Settling it’s happening goes hungry in the world.
In this era we always find hunger in every developing country. Therefore FAO is instituted. Indonesia as members of FAO ever receiving appreciation on it’s success in increasing the production of rice. FAO looks after the health of consumers. Together with the World Health Organization, it establishes criteria for foodstuffs. Thus, the food CODEX Commission, whose standards are recognized by the World Trade Organization, was the first to recommend at the international level that an expiry date be indicated on food products. It also sets norms with regard to additives and limits for residues of pesticides. For some pesticides, the Commission does not accept any trace at all. FAO also defines the criteria to determine what is a "low fat" product, which is actually a product with less than 3 per cent of fat content.
